It began with an Autumn breeze
The warmth of summer giving way
A whisper of chill and rustling leaves taking it's place

Watching the foliage transition
Rich greens fading of their bright pigment
Becoming the iconic yellows, oranges, and reds

A time for bonfires and s'mores
Taking over for sun lotion and swimming
Scenting the air with the smoke of burning wood

Pumpkins adorn porches
Their faces bearing grins and frowns
The flavor touching everything from coffee to cakes

Crunchy leaves get raked in piles
Promptly ruined by excited children
Crushing them beneath boots and kicking them all over

Candy get collected in sacks and buckets
By children of all ages, dressed in costumes
Everything from fantasy creatures to cartoon characters

As the chill of Fall slowly deepens
And there are no more leaves left to fall from trees
The season ends as it had once began

With an Autumn breeze
